Professional Paver Installation Unionville

What You Get With Proper Installation

Your driveway won’t develop those embarrassing dips and cracks that scream “amateur work.” The pavers stay level, the edges stay crisp, and water flows where it’s supposed to go.

You get a surface that handles North Carolina’s freeze-thaw cycles without buckling. No weeds pushing through gaps because the base was done right the first time.

Most importantly, you get the peace of mind that comes with knowing your investment will look good and function properly for decades. Not just until the next heavy rain or cold snap.

We Know Unionville Soil Conditions

We’ve been installing pavers in the Unionville area long enough to understand what works here and what doesn’t. The clay soil, the drainage challenges, the way freeze-thaw cycles affect different materials.

We’re not learning on your project. We know which base materials perform best in this area and how deep to excavate for lasting results.

You’re working with contractors who understand local building requirements and have the proper licensing and insurance to back up our work.

How We Install Pavers Right

First, we excavate to the proper depth – not just enough to make it look good temporarily. The base gets compacted in lifts with commercial equipment, not hand tampers that leave soft spots.

We install edge restraints that actually restrain. Then we screed the sand base level and install pavers with proper joint spacing. Every paver gets checked for level and alignment.

Finally, we sweep in joint sand and compact the entire surface. The result is a paver installation that performs like it should – no settling, no shifting, no problems down the road.

How long does paver installation take for a typical driveway?

Most residential driveways take 3-5 days depending on size and complexity. This includes excavation, base preparation, paver installation, and final compaction. Weather can affect timing, but we’ll give you a realistic schedule upfront. We don’t rush the base preparation because that’s what determines how long your pavers will last. The extra day spent on proper base work saves you years of potential problems.
The base preparation makes all the difference. Cheap installations skimp on excavation depth and use inadequate base materials. We excavate to proper depth for your soil conditions and use the right base materials compacted in lifts. We also install proper edge restraints that actually work. The result is pavers that stay level and don’t shift over time. You pay a bit more upfront but avoid costly repairs later.
Pavers actually perform better than concrete in our freeze-thaw cycles. Individual pavers can move slightly without cracking, unlike concrete slabs. The key is proper installation with adequate base depth and drainage. We install pavers with the base depth needed for North Carolina conditions. Properly installed pavers handle our climate very well and typically outlast concrete or asphalt surfaces.
Pavers are surprisingly low maintenance. Sweep them occasionally and rinse with a hose when needed. You might need to add joint sand every few years and seal them if you want to maintain color intensity. Weeds aren’t usually a problem with proper installation, but any that appear are easy to remove. The main thing is keeping the surface clean so you can spot any issues early.
It depends on the condition of the existing concrete. If it’s level, well-drained, and crack-free, we can sometimes install pavers over it with proper preparation. However, if the concrete has settling issues or drainage problems, those problems will transfer to the pavers. Often it’s better to remove the old concrete and start fresh with proper base preparation for long-term results.
For driveways, we typically recommend concrete pavers or clay brick pavers rated for vehicular traffic. Concrete pavers offer the most design options and consistent sizing. Clay brick pavers provide classic appearance and excellent durability. Natural stone can work but requires careful selection for hardness. The installation method matters more than the material – proper base preparation is what makes any paver driveway last.
